Standard Car Insurance

Can I use my company car no claims discount?

If you've driven a company car and the company have made no claims during that time you could be eligible for a no claims discount, provided that;

  • The car has been used for both personal and business use with you as the main driver.

  • You also need to have been claim free on the company car for a minimum of one year.

  • You are no longer using the company car

You will need to provide proof on company headed paper stating that you have been using the car for personal and business purposes.

Back 6 years ago I had 14 years NCD with Admiral.

Then my wife was offered a company car via NHS lease scheme, where the insurance was on that policy. Where I drove the car and was on the named drivers document.

After 6 1/2 years we are returning to getting our own insurance again.

What NCD do we start off as? 20, 6 or 0

I did a quote, based on the fact that insurance companies kind of "ignore" the 14 years previous and just take the 6 years.

Is that correct?

Hi @kevin33winter, this would depend on how the company displays the NCD on the document. If the document was in your name we would accept the number of years outlined on what the NHS insurers provide. We are only able to accept NCD that is less than 2 years old and this is why we may not be able to use your Admiral NCD. It may be worth querying this with your existing insurer to see what they're able to provide or give us a call on 0345 366 8631 so we can take some further details and confirm exactly what we can accept. Lines are open Mon - Fri: 8am - 9pm and Sat - Sun: 9am - 5pm. I hope this helps.
