How do I change my car on Your Insurance Account?

This should only take a few minutes via Your Insurance Account. If completed online your premium may change but you won't have to pay the £25 administration fee.

  • Once you log in, select the policy you want to make the change on and then click 'Make Changes'
  • Click 'Change car' from the drop down menu
  • Select the date you want your change to take effect from, read the statements carefully and if accepted, click 'Confirm'
  • Please enter your new registration and click 'Find my car'
  • If the vehicle details are correct please click 'Continue'. If the details are not correct, please select 'This is not my car' and manually enter the correct details. Once complete, select 'Continue'
  • You will then be presented with the cost to make the change and the option of adding any optional extras to your policy whilst making the change
  • If you're happy and want to go ahead, click 'Go to checkout'. If you do not want to go ahead, click 'Back to your account'

My car is a new registration which isn’t found, so it directs me to add a make & model, fuel and transmission type then press a “find my car” button - however this button does not work.

Hi @LeeH, sorry to hear that your having issues with this. can I ask that you attempt this again within a different browser?  

I have tried Safari & Chrome on an iPad, and Edge on Windows 10. All the same result.

I'm afraid that I will need to ask you call us on  0345 246 2895 (Mon - Fri: 9am - 6pm, Sat: 9am - 2pm) on this occasion to make the change. As you can't do this online we would not charge any admin fee.

The issue reported by LeeH is still not resolved and I need to change my car. I assume the admin fee will still be waived in this scenario, can anyone confirm this ?

Hey @Jymarsh, sorry to hear this. If the option to change the vehicle is not available online (and you've tried using different devices/browsers) then the fee will be waived. Hope this clarifies things for you. 

I've tried this. Tried to change my car from a bmw1 series (group15) to vauxhall ampeera (group 20e). 


Not been given a price im just after how much it would be for the change.


Instead of a price it says unable to call us.  Does this mean I wouldnt be able to insure the vehicle with you.  I have received many quotes via money supermarket including one from tesco car insurance. Being 6 months in ideally want to transfer cars.



Have been trying all morning to amend my car details but your customer service is shocking. Your website clearly has an error as I have tried on multiple browsers. Every time I fill in details and click 'continue', the web page refreshes rather than sending me to the next page and removes the details I've in put. Frustrating and a waste of time! Please help me to obtain a quote to simply change my car!

Can't believe you have been receiving feedback on the same issue and still have not sorted out the issue - frustrating as call centre is now closed until Monday morning. 

So I'm trying to change my car, want to do it online to avoid the admin fee, but it doesn't recognise my registration and when I put the car details in, it simply does nothing - am I going to have to call and be charged the admin fee because of a failure on the website?!?!?!?!???????
