How do I change my car on Your Insurance Account?

This should only take a few minutes via Your Insurance Account. If completed online your premium may change but you won't have to pay the £25 administration fee.

  • Once you log in, select the policy you want to make the change on and then click 'Make Changes'
  • Click 'Change car' from the drop down menu
  • Select the date you want your change to take effect from, read the statements carefully and if accepted, click 'Confirm'
  • Please enter your new registration and click 'Find my car'
  • If the vehicle details are correct please click 'Continue'. If the details are not correct, please select 'This is not my car' and manually enter the correct details. Once complete, select 'Continue'
  • You will then be presented with the cost to make the change and the option of adding any optional extras to your policy whilst making the change
  • If you're happy and want to go ahead, click 'Go to checkout'. If you do not want to go ahead, click 'Back to your account'

Hi @LaMiffy1, I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties online. On occasion we do need to speak to you in order to check further details so you would be best to give our team a quick call on 0345 246 2895 (Mon - Fri: 8am - 9pm, Sat - Sun: 9am - 5pm) so they can take a closer look. Please don't worry, if the system is asking you to contact us for this change we wouldn't charge you an admin fee. Apologies again for any inconvenience! 

Thanks for your reply.  However, I just tried this, and spent 11 minutes on the phone getting nowhere, as was being asked to try again as he didn’t believe there should be an issue, then when I got exactly the same problem again was told I would have to send a screenshot of the issue, as he needed to report it, still without actually helping me make the changes!! Then he tried updating my new car on his own policy and said there wasn’t a problem at his end.  Frankly, I was made to feel like I was trying to con you rather than make a simple vehicle change. Only when I insisted I just wanted to update my car and why was I being put through so many hoops did he check I had  been trying on an iPad and then said there known issues on Apple devices and I should try another method.  I have just tried on my laptop and it *still* says I have to call you.  Now what??   NOT happy with your service.

am trying to get on the change my car option in my insurance account but it keeps saying offline and to contact you but cannot get through to you

I'm going to have an overlap in my old and new cars, what can I do to get cover for both for a week?

Hey @bendraper, thanks for getting in touch. You can change the policy to the new vehicle via Your Insurance Account by clicking 'make changes' > 'amend my vehicle'. You will then be able to add the old vehicle on the policy on a temporary basis. To arrange the temporary change, you'll need to call us. You can reach the Car Insurance team on 0345 246 2895 (Mon - Fri: 8am - 9pm, Sat - Sun: 9am - 5pm) and they will be happy to help. 

 I am trying to change my car policy for a new car which we have now got to but can’t drive I have been trying to change the card details for the last hour I am having no luck
