How do I add or remove an additional policyholder?

You can add an additional policy holder to your home insurance policy 24 hours a day via Your Insurance Account.

All you will need to know is the details of the additional policy holder, including date of birth and claims history and we can provide you with a quote. All changes made via Your Insurance Account will not incur an administration fee.

  • Once logged in, select the policy you want to make the change on and then click Make Changes
  • Click Add joint policyholder from the menu that drops down
  • Select the date you want your change to take effect from, read the statements carefully and if accepted, click Confirm
  • Complete all the details, please check all the information is correct before clicking Continue. Please note this will not process the change at this stage, you will be given the option to cancel on the next screen should you not want to go ahead
  • You will then be presented with the cost to make the change and the option of adding any optional extras to your policy (also at an additional cost)

  • If you're happy and want to go ahead, click Go to checkout. If you do not want to go ahead, click Back to your account


If you do not want to go ahead and need some time to think about the quote, this will be stored and can be accessed via Your saved change quotes on your account page.

To remove a joint policyholder:

  • Once logged in, select the policy you want to make the change on and then click Make changes
  • Scroll down and under Your policy holders, click Amend joint policyholder
  • Select the date you want your change to take effect from, read the statements carefully and if accepted, click Confirm.
  • Confirm whether your surname has changed since your last visit, and then select Remove joint policy holder on the right hand side of the screen. Please check all the information is correct before clicking Continue. Please note this will not process the change at this stage, you will be given the option to cancel on the next screen should you not want to go ahead.
  • You will then be presented with the cost to make the change and the option of adding any optional extras to your policy (also at an additional cost)
  • If you're happy and want to go ahead, click Go to checkout. If you do not want to go ahead, click Back to your account.

What can I do if there is no ''Add joint policy holder'' button?

Hi @daninova2019, thanks for getting in touch. You may not be able to add someone else if there's already an additional policyholder or if the policy is within the renewal cycle. If you're looking to change the additional policyholder, make a change within the renewal or having issues adding someone to the policy, please give us a call. Our Home Insurance team are available on 0345 246 2904 (open Monday to Friday 8am-9pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm). I hope this helps!

I want to register for my car insurance account but you require a contact number to verify but there is no option to add this.  I have tried to call  customer service there is no option for this only available for renewal!
