Do you cover activities and sports that I may want to do on holiday?

It depends on the activity you want to take part in. You are not covered for claims caused by you taking part in winter sports (unless you have paid to add Winter Sports Cover to your policy), manual work, mountaineering, potholing, riding or driving in any kind of race, flying (except as a passenger in a fully-licensed passenger carrying aircraft) or doing any other dangerous activity.

However, the following are automatically covered -


Abseiling – professionally organized and supervised Archery – properly supervised
Camel riding – not racing Canoeing/rafting – excluding white water rafting up to category 2
Catamaran sailing – up to 12 miles from coast only Clay-pigeon shooting – organized event
Cycling – transport only – excludes mountain biking and BMX Deep sea fishing – game fishing  *
Dinghy sailing – up to 12 miles from coast only Dry slope skiing
Fell walking – no picks or ropes Fishing
Football – not professional, semi-professional or major competition or tournament Gliding – not piloting and subject to flying with qualified pilot
Go-karting – up to 20cc Hiking/walking/trekking – no ropes or equipment and on recognised routes
Horse riding – excluding jumping, hunting and competition Hot air ballooning – licensed operation only, not piloting
Jet skiing Marathon running – not professional
Orienteering Paint balling/war games
Paragliding/parascending – over water only when attached to a speedboat* Pony trekking
Quad biking – only if wearing a helmet and protective clothing and in a controlled environment and not participating in any race or competition, and the quad bike is not more than 125cc Safaris without guns – professionally organised tours only
Suba diving to 30 metres (increased to 40 metres if you hold a recognised diving qualification which shows you are competent to make the dive)  Snorkelling
Surfing Waterskiing
Wind surfing  

Winter Sports covers:

Skiing on-piste Skiing off-piste with a qualified instructor
Snowboarding on-piste Snowboarding off-piste with  a qualified instructor
Snowmobiling* Cross-country skiing

Mogul skiing Monoskiing

* Under Personal Liability cover, you will not be covered for liability caused directly or indirectly by you owning or using any aircraft, motorised vehicle, boat or any form of motorised leisure equipment.


The information in your policy document is conflicting when it comes to Scuba diving. On page 17, it says : "we automatically cover the activities listed below under our core cover" (including scuba diving). This is consistent with the information on this post above. But on page 25, it says "You are not covered for claims caused directly or indirectly by the following" (including scuba diving). I bought the policy on the basis of the information on page 17, but now I am concerned! Please can you clarify why there is this discrepancy? Is  diving (up to 30m) covered or not?

I've had a look at page 25 on our policy booklet and don't see the section you refer to with scuba diving not being covered - Can you confirm if this is the same policy booklet that you are looking at? 


Suba diving up to 30 metres (increased to 40 metres if you hold a recognised diving qualification which shows you are competent to make the dive) is covered under the policy. If your version of the policy booklet differs from this can you please send us a screen shot or link directly to this? If you can send that to us via either private or direct message on our Twitter or Facebook then we will certainly look into this further.
