How do I change my car?

You can change your car 24 hours a day via Your Insurance Account. Should you decide to go ahead, your previous car will still be covered on the day of the change, up until midnight.

 

Although we can provide a quote without a car registration by using just the make and model, to go ahead with a change you must have this information.

 

Changing details on your insurance could increase the overall cost of your policy but no administration fee will be charged if you complete the change via Your Insurance Account.

 

If you have Tesco Bank Box Insurance you can change your car by calling 0330 022 2202 (Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm. Calls may be recorded).

 

*This number may be included as part of any inclusive call minutes provided by your phone operator.

This isn't working for me - it tells me to call Tesco Car Insurance!

If I have a Tesco Car Insurance policy and want to change my car, why do I have to enter in full,. all my details,which Tesco has already on record, again and again?

Why does not the Tesco computer program at least offer the dtails that it has on its computer, for the policy holder to confirm or alter?

After all Tesco is going to consult its records to see if it can offer a no claims bonus.

All I want to know is the possible insurance cost of any  car I might want to buy

@gretak, it appears, has never tried to get a new quote for a new car.

You log into Tesco Car Insurance.

You have to type in at least 50% of the details of your current policy

You are then told you are logged in

You then click on "Get a new quote" and YOU HAVE TO TYPE IN EVERY LAST DETAIL AGAIN

This is madness. You would save a lot of time just going straight to "New Quote"

Hi @Bartlington, sorry you're having trouble retrieving a quote for your new car. 

 

Have you registered for Your Insurance Account online? If so, you're not required to input all of your details again, you would simply have to input the registration details of the car and be asked to confirm if the rest of the information on the policy is correct. It sounds as though you're trying to complete a quote for a brand new policy, but if this is not the case please let us know some more information and we'll check this for you.

AdamF   Thank you for your reply. Howver i think you are getting better service than I am getting

 

I enter my user name and password

 

I then have to confirm Where is my car parked,

What do I do for a living

How many drivers

I do not mind having to input dates of birth as this is a safety check

 

I go through all the screens and I get a screen that tells me the details of my car and says I can alter or print what i need

It offers me to choices in Blue type:-

Get a new car quote

Get a new home quote

 

I click "Get a new car quote"

I get a new screen " You are now logged into Online Banking"( Iam not a Online Banking Customer, just an Online Insurance Customer)

I can not log in as Banking customer

 

I click the RED box " Get a New car Quote" and then I  have to input all my data again

What am i doing wrong?

Could you try clearing the cache on your browser @Bartlington? This could be an issue caused by some old information connected to the website. If that doesn't work, let us know.
