How do I change my car?

You can change your car 24 hours a day via Your Insurance Account.

 

Although we can provide a quote without a car registration by using just the make and model, to go ahead with a change you must have this information.

 

Changing details on your insurance could increase the overall cost of your policy but no administration fee will be charged if you complete the change via Your Insurance Account.

 

If you have Tesco Bank Box Insurance you can change your car by calling 0330 022 2202 (Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm. Calls may be recorded).

 

*This number may be included as part of any inclusive call minutes provided by your phone operator.

Terrible service. I was offered a courtesy car and this the guy at Tescos said they couldn't insure. Really silly to force people into difficult situations where they may not be insured.

Was told I could change my vehicle online and it wouldnt let me

In order to process a change of car on your Tesco Bank Car Insurance policy please call us on 0345 246 2895 or 0113 820 9990 from a mobile (Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm. Calls may be recorded).


If you have Tesco Bank Box Insurance you can change your car by calling 0330 022 2202 (Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm. Calls may be recorded).

I recently sold my car which was insured via tesco, i am purchasing a brand new car and did not have the delivery date confirmed from the garage therefore I am currently carless yet paying to insure a car I no longer have and tesco want £20 admin fee to change the vehicle.  

Whilst I appreciate that admin fees are in places so that people arent continously switching cars will nilly, i think its grossly unfair to profit from me as I am paying for insurance cover that I dont need and then have to pay an admin fee to switch over.

I feel exploited and am told I have to wait 4 days for someone to get back to me on my complaint?  Surely human intervention and common sense should prevail over process here??

You can find all details about how we process complaints including timescales in the following link. So I can look into this further, please send a message to @CET, In the message explaining your situation, include your name, date of birth, postcode and, if you have it, policy number.

 

For details like your DOB, postcode and policy number, we ask for you to format it with additional spaces, i.e. A B 1 2 C D, 2 4 1 0 2 0 1 6 and 0 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 otherwise the information is removed by the system.

i want to change my car i know about the admin fee fair enough. i been with this company now nearly two years been driving 7 and it wants to up my insurance, i have found a better deal with another company which is half the price, but i didnt really want to leave is there any way of sorting this out or do i go else where

Hi @dmccomb1, have you called us for a quotation? When you complete a change of vehicle mid term you may see a difference in price. To arrange this, please call us on 0345 246 2895, open Mon to Fri 8am-9pm and Sat/Sun 9am-5pm

My wife is planning to change her car and rang to get an estimate of the increase in her premium.  She was told that as she didn't have a reg number (new unregistered car) you couldn't help even though other providers are able to provide approx quotes.  Is this correct as she is now unsure how much extra to budget for regards insurance?
