What is a Temporary Security Number and when do I use it?

A Temporary Security Number is a code we use as an additional security measure to confirm your identity if:

 

  • you're registering for Online Banking for the first time

 

  • you've forgotten your login details

 

  • you're using a browser on a computer or mobile device we don't recognise and we don't have your up to date mobile phone number.

 

We'll send the Temporary Security Number to you by text message, if we have your up to date mobile phone number. If we don't, we'll send it by post and you'll have to wait for it to arrive before you can log in to Online Banking.

 

When you receive your Temporary Security Number return to the Registration or Login screen. You'll be asked to enter the Temporary Security Number in full to complete registration or reset your login details.

 

Your Temporary Security Number is valid for 30 days from the date it was requested and can only be used once. If it expires, you'll need to contact us to get a new one.

Hi Susan, I can send you a Temporary Security Number (TSN) through the post which will reset your online banking and allow you to get logged in again. This can take between 3-5 business days to arrive and will be valid for 30 days – if you would like me to arrange this for you, please confirm your full name, DOB and postcode in a private message to 'Tesco-Bank'. Alternatively, you can call our Online Helpdesk anytime on 0345 300 3511 and request a TSN to be sent by text immediately once security is completed. 

I changed my phone and mobile number and get the same message, rang the number and was told I would receive a temporary security number within 10 minutes but all I got was a text to say my number was changed 

I’m sorry you've not received it your TSN. It’s possible there might just be a delay in it sending, so it might be worth waiting a little longer. If you still don't receive it, the best thing to do would be to get back in touch with us and we can arrange for another one to be sent. As we can only send it by post here, you'd be best to call our Online Helpdesk again if you need it urgently.  

@Tesco-Bank I rang back and they said they couldn't get access to my account because I failed a security question and that it should of been sent to my number.they said all they can do is send it by post so now it will be another week I won't be able to login

@Tesco-Bank Now I can't pay for anything,it says it needs to send a one time access code and only shows my old mobile number when I got a text to my new number saying it was updated

Hi I am currently locked out of my account as I have a new telephone number and cannot receive a text. I see customers on this page being told: "message us directly @Tesco-Bank with your full name, DOB and postcode, we'll get this arranged for you!" with regards to obtaining a Temporary Security Number. Every time I click on @Tesco-Bank to send a message, I am sent to a page stating:

"Invalid parameters specified

An invalid set of parameters has been specified in the url.

Return to my original page"

My question is: Do I contact Tesco on this site to obtain a TSN (If so, how); or, do I contact @tescobankhelp on Twitter?

I rang last Wednesday about a security number and they said they would send one out in the post but I still haven't received it

How do I use my temporary security number? I got it today but when i enter my username to login it says my security number is locked
