What is a Temporary Security Number and when do I use it?

A Temporary Security Number is a code we use as an additional security measure to confirm your identity if:

 

  • you're registering for Online Banking for the first time

 

  • you've forgotten your login details

 

  • you're using a browser on a computer or mobile device we don't recognise and we don't have your up to date mobile phone number.

 

We'll send the Temporary Security Number to you by text message, if we have your up to date mobile phone number. If we don't, we'll send it by post and you'll have to wait for it to arrive before you can log in to Online Banking.

 

When you receive your Temporary Security Number return to the Registration or Login screen. You'll be asked to enter the Temporary Security Number in full to complete registration or reset your login details.

 

Your Temporary Security Number is valid for 30 days from the date it was requested and can only be used once. If it expires, you'll need to contact us to get a new one.

i have tried the Tesco customer services phone line to arrange a TSN but after being on hold 15 minutes i have given up. Can anybody help me?:




 

Hi @Madzinzan, we can send you a Temporary Security Number (TSN) through the post which will reset your online banking and allow you to get logged in again. This can take between 3-5 business days to arrive and will be valid for 30 days – if you would like me to arrange this for you, please send a private message to @CET with your full name, DOB and postcode. Alternatively, you can call our Online Helpdesk anytime on 0345 300 3511 to request this via text message.

Hi - both my mobile and computer are saying i cannot access and i need a temporary secuirty number - i am stuck waiting on the call in for ages now is there any other way to achieve this ie text to me

Hi @CAROLYNRIMMER, if you follow the instructions I've posted above we can arrange for a temporary security number (TSN) to be posted to you. Should you require one via text you would need to call us on the number above.

I have been trying to get into my credit card account for months on another device it keeps saying I need a code but where do I get the code from it is frustrating, I tried to call but waited for ages to speak to someone do gave up.

I am locked out of my banking and apparently the app is offline. How can i move money that i need? the devices I have in my house have been reset recently and I have no way to get to my banking, How do i get it all reset?

Alternatively, you can call our Online Helpdesk anytime on 0345 300 3511 and request a TSN to be sent by text immediately once security is completed. If you choose to call, we can discuss moving your money into an account for you too.
