Paying your Credit Card

We’ve got several ways for you to pay your credit card bill, so it’s easy for you to keep up to date. All of this information is contained within the How to Pay section of your monthly statement.

Faster payment - You can transfer money from your bank account and this is the fastest way to pay your monthly bill. Transfer the money to sort code 40-64-15, account number 31310006 and enter your 16-digit credit card number as the reference. Payments made using the Faster Payment Service are normally made within two hours but can take up to 24 hours. However, they may take longer between 4pm Saturday and 6am Sunday and if we take our service offline for maintenance.

Pay by Direct Debit - You can set up regular payments to your credit card by direct debit, which means you won’t have to organise a manual payment each month. To set this up, you need to have registered for Online Banking. Once you’ve done this, follow these steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking, click on your credit card and then select 'Direct Debit' in the top right hand corner.
  • Follow the steps to choose your payment amount and enter the account details you want the direct debit to be paid from.
  • If you get an email or text before your first direct debit date letting you know your statement is ready, you’ll need to make your first payment by bank transfer or debit card instead. Your Direct Debit should then be active for your next monthly statement.

If you have our Mobile App, you can also set up, manage and cancel your direct debit in the app.

Pay by debit card - When making debit card payments, please allow a minimum of 2 working days before the due date for the payment to clear. You can make debit card payments via Online Banking and our Mobile App. You will need to add the debit card first and then you can make a payment.

Online Banking - To do this, you need to first register for Online Banking. Then follow these steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking, click on your credit card and then select 'Manage account' in the top right hand corner.
  • Select 'Make a payment' and then 'Make a debit card payment'

Mobile App - To do this you need to first download and set up our Mobile App. Then follow these steps:

  • Log in to the mobile app
  • Select the credit card you want to make a payment on
  • Select the menu icon and then select 'Pay with debit card'

hi i been sick and my income as been reduced and now im struggling to pay my outgoing including my tesco credit card i missed some payment but im willing to pay the amount i can afford

Hi @carlo2415, I'm sorry to hear about this. So that I can help, could you message me at @Tesco-Bank confirming your full name, DOB and postcode please? - Ainsley

I took out a 0% card recently have have just received both an email and text telling me my minimum payment is due in 5 days.  However both the online banking system and the app show that I have no minimum payment to make.  I note from your FAQs that a debit card payment can take 2 days to clear.

Why is the expected payment not showing on my account so I can make a payment in a timely fashion and make sure it clears in time?

Hi @Jo1963, so I can check the alerts on the account can you send a message to @Tesco-Bank with your full name, DOB and postcode?

So this is the first time using credit cards in 20 years ive been caught out. Mid Dec I applied for a balance transfer and as it was an aged credit card so it still had the payment terms of paying in full. Surely after a while you should out of courtesy double check. Why would I want to make a balance transfer then within 3 weeks later want to pay it in full? I paid the min fee well in time so I don't know why you set direct debit payments so early. I only transferred 16th Dec and you were taking payment 9th Jan. Not even a month. Now I find there is a £12 fee, but also I may have last the deal. How do I know if I have? Don't want to pay a months worth of interest when I've made the min payment well in advance.

Hi @Pvinny, I'm sorry to hear that. Can you send a private message to @Tesco-Bank with your full name, DOB and postcode so I can check the account?
