Paying your Credit Card

We’ve got several ways for you to pay your credit card bill, so it’s easy for you to keep up to date.  All of this information is contained within the how to pay section of your monthly statement.

Pay by direct debit

You can set up regular payments to your credit card by Direct Debit, which means you won’t have to organise a manual payment each month. To set this up, you need to have registered for Online Banking. Once you’ve done this, follow these steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking, click on your account and then select "Manage account" in the top right hand corner.
  • Select “Make a payment” and then “Manage Direct Debit”. Here you can set up and manage your direct debits

If you get an email or text before your first Direct Debit date letting you know your statement is ready, you’ll need to make your first payment by bank transfer or debit card instead. Your Direct Debit should then be active for your next monthly statement.

If you have our Mobile App, you can also set up, manage and cancel your Direct Debit in the App.

Faster payment

You can transfer money from your bank account. Transfer the money to sort code 40-64-15, account number 31310006 and enter your 16-digit credit card number as the reference.

Payments made using the Faster Payment Service are normally made within two hours but can take up to 24 hours. However, they may take longer between 4pm Saturday and 6am Sunday and if we take our service offline for maintenance.

 Pay by debit card

When making debit card payments, please allow a minimum of 2 working days before the due date for the payment to clear. You can make debit card payments via Online Banking and our Mobile App. You will need to add the debit card first and then you can make a payment.

Online Banking

To do this, you need to first register for Online Banking. Then follow these steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking, click on your account and then select "Manage account" in the top right hand corner.
  • Select “Make a payment” and then “Make a debit card payment”

Mobile App

To do this you need to first download and set up our Mobile App. Then follow these steps:

  • Log into the Mobile App
  • Select the credit card you want to make a payment on
  • Select the menu icon and then select “Pay with debit card”

I have a DD set for my credit card payment - it hasn't been taken this month, there are ample funds in my account. .does anyone know why?

Hi @Hazelc1, sorry to hear that your payment didn't go through this month. Is this the first time you've used direct debit on your account? If it was set up between the date your statement was produced and your payment due date, then a warning would've appeared online to say that a manual payment would be required. We wouldn't be able to confirm for certain on Community though, please call us on 0345 300 4278, available 24/7, and our team can find out exactly what's happened – Scott

who is the cheque payable to if I want to pay a balance off with a cheque, and to what address please

Hi @scaniaescort123, thanks for getting in touch. If you make the cheque payable to yourself and include your full card number on the back, we'll be able to credit it to your account. Send the cheque to Tesco Bank, PO Box 1020, Camberley, GU15 9LB.

Morning, I received my new credit card on 23rd June.  I made a couple of transactions and two balance transfers, and I was wondering when will my first statement be generated?

Hi @Kellsbells85. thanks for your post. Usually this would be generated a month after the account has been opened. I hope this information helps!

Hi - I pay my balance in full each month by direct debit. This month I have made an additional payment after my statement was issued. Please can anyone tell me if this will reduce the amount of my direct debit or if I will still be debited for the full statement balance? Thanks

Hi @stevie2503, thanks for your question. If your payment is made more than five working days before the direct debit is due, then your full direct debit payment will automatically amend to only take the remaining difference. Extra payments will adjust the amount as will any refunds you receive. I hope that helps, but please get back in touch if you have any other questions :-)

I paid a large amount off my Credit Card on 13th June via telephone banking but it is not showing here- eventhough it has gone out of my bank account

I'm sorry to hear that @CJHart31. Have you called us yet to check on your payment? The team are available on 0345 300 4278, open 24/7, and they'll be able to help further – Scott
