Paying your Credit Card

COVID-19 Update
– we would encourage you to make a payment using our Mobile Banking App or Online Banking and help us protect our most vulnerable customers by only contacting us if your call is urgent. Read
our latest customer update for more details.

We’ve got several ways for you to pay your credit card bill, so it’s easy for you to keep up to date. All of this information is contained within the How to Pay section of your monthly statement.

Faster payment - You can transfer money from your bank account and this is the fastest way to pay your monthly bill. Transfer the money to sort code 40-64-15, account number 31310006 and enter your 16-digit credit card number as the reference. Payments made using the Faster Payment Service are normally made within two hours but can take up to 24 hours. However, they may take longer between 4pm Saturday and 6am Sunday and if we take our service offline for maintenance.

Pay by Direct Debit - You can set up regular payments to your credit card by direct debit, which means you won’t have to organise a manual payment each month. To set this up, you need to have registered for Online Banking. Once you’ve done this, follow these steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking, click on your credit card and then select 'Direct Debit' in the top right hand corner.
  • Follow the steps to choose your payment amount and enter the account details you want the direct debit to be paid from.
  • If you get an email or text before your first direct debit date letting you know your statement is ready, you’ll need to make your first payment by bank transfer or debit card instead. Your Direct Debit should then be active for your next monthly statement.

If you have our Mobile App, you can also set up, manage and cancel your direct debit in the app.

Pay by debit card - When making debit card payments, please allow a minimum of 2 working days before the due date for the payment to clear. You can make debit card payments via Online Banking and our Mobile App. You will need to add the debit card first and then you can make a payment.

Online Banking - To do this, you need to first register for Online Banking. Then follow these steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking, click on your credit card and then select 'Manage account' in the top right hand corner.
  • Select 'Make a payment' and then 'Make a debit card payment'

Mobile App - To do this you need to first download and set up our Mobile App. Then follow these steps:

  • Log in to the mobile app
  • Select the credit card you want to make a payment on
  • Select the menu icon and then select 'Pay with debit card'

Hi @JONSKI, sorry to hear about that! Can you please send us over a private message to Tesco-Bank confirming your full name, DOB, postcode and mobile phone number?

I’ve got a late payment fee even though requested a break in plenty of time and it’s now saying my next payment needs to be like £248

Hi @danny1231, really sorry to hear about that! Have you received an email to say we've received your payment break request? If so,then please don’t worry. Please follow the steps within the email and ignore any correspondence regarding missed payments. We will be back in touch when your payment break has been applied and this will be backdated to the date we received your email. Any late payment fees will be refunded, and it will have no effect on your credit file. We thank you for your patience during this time.

I have had a couple of refunds from holiday companies, they arrived after my current statement.  Do I still need to pay this months bill, or do the refunds offset the payment required.  I don't want to end up paying or receiving charges if I don't have to.

Hello. I recently made a payment to pay off my credit card and last month the amount was paid off immediately. This month it has taken longer. Is there a problem on your end to receive payments?

Hi @SharanD, I'm not aware of any issues around receiving payments. If the payment was made by card then this can take 2 working days and if made by faster payment it should clear within 24 hours.

I'm having trouble setting up faster payments with Natwest to pay my TB CC. It wants the Full Name (which you don't provide. is Tesco bank fine?), input the sort code and account number from above, asks me what type of account (I'm assuming personal?) and it asks me if I'm paying a bill and gives me the option of choosing from various TB (cardname) (digits) accounts. I haven't a clue which I should pick. If I pick the Tesco Club 518652, (which seems correct) it tells me to add the card number as reference, and should start with 4 digits, that it does NOT start with. I'm confused, as the details you give aren't enough for me to actually set this up.

Hi @cappuccinolace, thanks for getting in touch! Please include the reference as your 16-digit credit card number to ensure the payment reaches your account. The name or nickname that your bank asks you to add is for your own reference only so it doesn't matter what you add there.

I am trying to amend the direct debit payment date for a Direct Debit I set up today as it has defaulted to date I do not want.

The EDIT function does not show anything other than

Full outstanding balance
Minimum amount
Another set amount each month
How do I change the date of the Direct Debit Payment?

Hi - i requested a payment holiday which you granted and you have paused my direct debit. ive had late charges applied the last 2 months which from another thread i think and would hope you refund?

Today i actually received 5 letters in the post all from yourselfs about this one account asking for various different things in regards to payment , you have also now reduced the limit on the card significantly which could put it over the limit for once interest is applied to this final month of the payment holiday. please can you help and advise on this.
