Why am I getting a 'device not compatible' error message in the Google Play Store?

We're aware of an issue where some people get a "Device not compatible" error message in the Google Play Store when trying to download our Mobile App, even though we should support the phone. This is an error that has appeared on a number of other apps in the Google Play Store including apps such as Instagram and Clash of Clans.

If you are sure that your current Android device isn’t running on an older version of Android and your device’s hardware is supported by the application then it may be due to some bugs in your Android device or the Google Play Store application.

As a workaround, we suggest trying one or both of the methods below:

Method 1

* Clear the Google Play Store from running in the background of your Android device.
* Launch the Settings app on your Android device.
* Click on the “Application Manager” option.
* Then find the “Google Play Services” listing and click on the same.
* Click on the “Clear Cache” button.

Method 2

* Go to the Settings app on your device.
* Click on “Application Manager”.
* Find “Google Play Store” and click on the same.
* Click on the “Uninstall Updates” button.
* Click on the “OK” button.

This will remove all the recent updates to Google Play Store, which may be causing the error.

This should erase everything, and get rid of any corrupt files that seem to be causing this problem. If you have tried these methods and have been successful or if you are still experiencing issues please let us know in the comments below.

Ive tried all that on my new Note 9 and it was not sucseful ☹️

Your app app works fine on the galaxy 9 plus but the newer Note9 as these issues

the result is that I can no longer keep track on my Tesco CC transaction on my new phone  this is a real problem for me

I do expect help on this from Tesco these workarounds are not a good idea to put out there to your customers or to blame the play store please put some technical resourse on this we are your customers we use your banking applications we expect them to work on new phones

Hi @kenozz, the Note 9 is not currently compatible with the app as I mentioned on your previous post. We are working to resolve this and in the meantime you can use your phones internet browser to login through internet banking. I'm afraid that I don't have a timescale for when this will be available on the Note 9.

I was simply replying to the post above recomending workarounds as these workarounds do not (well) WORK

and this advice is still active to those of us who are trying to install the Tesco Banking App on our new Note 9 phones

Of course I am aware that I can use my phones internet browser but the whole point of the App is that I can see everything including pending transactions, this is the most valued of the app features and I did use it daily

I hope the app will be fixed soon as it is a deal breaker for me

Followed all the suggestions.

Still can not install the app.

Waiting eagerly for a fix to this problem.

Hey @Rayoakes, thank you for getting in touch. I’m sorry to hear you’re still having difficulty with this. Can you please confirm what device you’re using? - Cheryl

I have tried these solutions but I still cant download the app on my Note 9. How is this going to be resolved??

If this hasn't worked, I'm afraid we can't assist further. This is likely due to the larger screen size of the Note 9. I'll record this as feedback for you, so we are aware of issues with this device, but I can only suggest using the website as an alternative. I’m sorry that we weren’t able to resolve this for you – Joe

Literally worst IT service ever. Time to find a new credit card company that can handle larger phone screens then.

Hi, have tried these workarounds and they have not worked.

Hi @Delboy52, I'm sorry to hear this. Can you please confirm which device you are using when trying to access the app?
