How long will it take to get my loan?

If you apply online, we try to give an instant decision to confirm if you are accepted, whether we need further information (see below), or if you're declined.

If you’ve been approved, we will either send you some paperwork to check and sign, or where possible you can sign your loan agreement digitally. We’ll then use Faster Payments to send the money directly to your bank account. Faster Payments can take up to 48 hours and the money can be withdrawn as soon as the funds reach your account.

If you apply over the phone or we require some supporting documentation:

  • If you are approved, we will send you a credit agreement for you to sign and return.
  • If you are approved in principle, we will send you a credit agreement to sign and return and a list of any other documentation we require.
  • If we can’t lend to you, we will let you know.

It may take between 5 – 10 days for us to check everything is ok. As we try to do this as quickly as possible, we do not send an acknowledgment email or letter, but will inform you as soon as a decision has been made. Once your returned agreement is processed, we use Faster Payments to send the money to your account.

If you gave us your mobile number during your application we will send a text when the funds have been sent to your account, followed by a welcome letter.

Calls may be recorded. *This number may be included as part of any inclusive call minutes provided by your phone operator.


Having tried to apply by phone, I was told that online would be much quicker and that a digital siganture should be possible. This would have been ideal as I required the funds in 6 days time. Having made the application online, I had nothing back in terms of an acknowledgement, so had to go online and start a messenger chat. Only then was I told it could be 5-10 days. Now I cant try anywhere else as this application has already been started, so I am now at risk of losing the purchase of my new car.

Thanks TESCO for nothing - why it takes so long in this day & age is beyond me?

Hi @Nino, I'm sorry to hear about this. I'm afraid we can't guarantee that you'll be able to digitally sign, and if this option isn't available we need to send documents by post for you to sign. Hi I've recently recieved my supporting documents that I sent to you through the post dated the 20th. The letter states that you will be in touch shortly, as yet I've had no further correspondence. I'm wondering where we are at if anyone can help me? Thank you 😀

I've put the incorrect phone number in I got accepted and signed online will they email?

Applied for a personal loan yesterday online and it went through completely fine and I got approved, I was wondering when I should expect to receive a text or email regarding it ?

Hi @Shane88, if you digitally signed we'll send you a text within 48 hours outlining that the funds have been sent. We'll also send documents out by post which will arrive within 5-8 working days. I hope this helps - Ainsley
