In which cases do I need to tell you about the individual value of my home contents?

You only need specify contents if they are 'valuables' and are worth more than the limits below. 'Valuables' include watches, jewellery, furs, items or collections of gold, silver or other precious metals, works of art, sets of stamps, coins or medals.

The Value policy automatically covers single items up to £1,500 each when in the home.

The Standard policy automatically covers single items up to £2,000 each when in the home.

The Finest policy automatically covers single items up to £3,000 each when in the home.

For policies taken out after May 2013, the overall limit applies: 1-2 bedrooms £10,000, 3-4 bedrooms £15,000, 5-6 bedrooms £20,000 and for valuables over £75,000 then its 30% of the total sum insured.

If you need to specify an item, please refer to our existing FAQ on how to do this.
If the total of your unspecified valuables amount to more than 30% of your total contents sum insured please contact us to discuss.

Excesses and exclusions apply. See your Policy Booklet for details.

Hi

I already have a home insurance with Tesco. Do I need to submit a list of the house contents? in case I need to claim if anything went wrong.

Thanks for your message and welcome to Your Community zsmillie.

We generally wouldn't ask you to provide a list of house contents, although depending upon the type of home insurance policy you have with us you may wish to provide any items of greater value. To find out if you're required to do this please call on 0345 246 2904 or 0113 820 9994 from a mobile. Our opening hours are 08:00-21:00 Mon-Fri and 09:00-17:00 Sat/Sun.

Regards

Mark.
