Home Insurance

Are my mobile phone and tablet covered with Tesco Bank Home Insurance?

Tesco Bank Home Insurance covers mobile phones and tablets for theft within the home (tablets are covered for accidental damage under home entertainment equipment cover as standard).

If you need your mobile covered for accidental damage when at home, you would need to add personal possessions cover (which includes cover for items away from the home) or add accidental damage to cover your mobiles in the home only.

You can add accidental damage to your policy via Your Insurance Account, which is available 24 hours a day. There will be no fee for making a change to your policy (when accepted via Your Insurance Account), but there will be an increase in premium for adding this to your policy.

  • Once you log in, click on the Make changes option
  • Scroll down and under Your home section, click Amend content cover
  • Select the date you want your change to take effect from, read the statements carefully and if accepted, click Confirm
  • Click Yes under the question Would you like to add accidental damage cover? then scroll down and click continue
  • You will then be presented with the cost to make the change and the option of adding any optional extras to your policy whilst making the change
  • If you're happy and want to go ahead, click Go to checkout. If you do not want to go ahead, click Back to your account

If you do not want go ahead and need some time to think about the quote, this will be stored and can be accessed via Your saved change quotes on your account page.

You can also find more information on our Home Insurance pages on our website. Exclusions and limitations apply, for full details of the cover provided please see your Policy Booklet.

I am sorry but l took out home insurance out with you as my old one had run out no T**sensitive info removed**54 and pay full then l got a letter off you to say that you cancel my insurance if you have you need to put the money back in my bank so l can go to another insurancer

Hi @ellismichael, I'm sorry to hear that. Can you send @Tesco-Bank a private message with your full name, DOB and postcode so I can look into this?

Can you confirm whether or not the compulsary/voluntary excess applies to personal posessions and accidental damage cover?  We are looking at amending our insurance to cover our mobile phones but we have a £250 voluntary excess so there would be no point if this applies (we don't have expensive designer phones, just regular smartphones, certainly worth less than £250).

Hi @Girl_with_hat, thanks for getting in touch. If you're claiming for a mobile phone within the home you'd pay your voluntary excess along with any compulsory. If you're claiming under personal possession cover for an item that has been lost, stolen or damaged outside of the home you'd pay the voluntary excess.

If you'd like us to check your policy limits for mobile phone cover, please privately message us directly at Tesco-Bank with your full name, DOB, postcode and policy number :)
