hi, its always best to try & avoid missing a repayment as not only will it be marked on your credit file but you will get stung with late payment charges so contact your card issuer at earliest oppertunity to explain as there will be a dedicated dept to help anyone experiencing problems

I received a letter today informing me that I am being charged 12 pounds for missing a payment. I assumed I had paid in December and it was a simple oversight during xmas and the fact my sim card wasn't active that I did not receive an alert or check my email as I was abroad. As its a first offence and I have cleared the full balance as I always do could it be rescinded?

HI - I have been using Tesco Credit card with a Direct Debit setup to pay the statement balance in full, every 27th. What then happens is that there is a debit transaction on 27th, and following that there is a payment reversal on 28th, and I am charged with £12 late payment fee, as well as the interest. This has happened in the past as well, which I thought was a one off glitch and paid in full to bring the balance to £0 and stopped using the card for a while, but when I used it again last month, it has happened again. No explanations given and it must be hurting the credit rating as well. This doesn't happen with any other card. Please suggest.
Hello @anshul, I'm sorry to hear you've had an unexpected fee. When a direct debit is returned, this is requested by your bank so it would be best to contact them directly to find out why this happened - Caroline
Thanks @CarolineM for your help - I can't see the direct debit on my bank account, though I am sure it was working earlier. Not sure who is at fault here, but it shouldn't be me if I haven't changed the direct debits at all.
