What are the foreign transaction rates when using card abroad
When using your card abroad there is a 2.75% foreign transaction fee applied. I have included a link that will give you more information regarding using your credit card abroad. I have also included a link to the MasterCard currency conversion calculator in case you need to know how much you will be paying in GBP. Please be aware that exchange rates can change in the delay between your transaction being placed and your card being billed. We'll advise of all charges on your statement when produced.
Can you explain how the exchange rate is calculated? I'm going on a cruise and the cruise company charge 3% (more than Tesco at 2.75%) and explain that the exchange rate is calculated by Global Visa Services using a rate set by Blomberg
Our exchange rate is set by Mastercard or Visa, depending on the type of card you have with us. You can check the Mastercard rate for any day here: https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/consumers/get-support/convert-currency.html.

I do understand that I don't need to inform about going abroad, but have been advised that I should do for travel to India?
This won't be necessary @Salanne. If you were to call and advise you were going abroad (anywhere in the world) there isn't anything we would do on our systems to highlight this, other than noting your account.
If your card was to be blocked as part of a security process whilst aboard we would send a text message asking you to confirm if transactions made on the account were genuine. If they were then you would only need to respond to our message with the appropriate answer and attempt the transaction again. Our overseas number is also on the back of your credit card if you needed to get in touch whilst abroad. I hope this helps!
