How do I activate my Tesco Bank Credit Card?

If you are the primary card holder you can activate your card via the Mobile Banking App, or by calling us on 0345 072 9072* (Minicom 0345 671 0676*). If there are additional card holders on the account then this will also activate their cards.


You will be asked to enter your 16 digit credit card number so please have this with you when you call. If you’ve registered for Online Banking you will also need to enter selected digits from your Security Number.


*This number may be included as part of any inclusive call minutes provided by your phone operator.

Hi @karen9446, a balance transfer can take between 2-3 working days to go through. If this has been longer than that, after you've activated your card either give us a call on 0345 300 4278 (24/7). Or send a message to @CET with your name, DOB and postcode, leaving a space between each character of your personal details, so we can look into this further for you.

Hey @Wilburt1970 a new card can take up to 10 business days from the day your application was approved. If it's gone outwith that timescale, just give our Credit Card team a call on the number given by Ross above so we can cancel that first card and order you a new one.


I'm trying to activate my credit card and it's asking me for a security number,I can't remember mine and its not allowing me to go any further by requesting a new one,so I'm a bit stuck,can I do this over the phone at all??

I am trying to activate my new credit card but I am currently abroad. My son will do it for me but he is having problems. How can I rectify this?

To activate the card you will need to either give us a call on our international number +44 1268 508 027 (24/7, charges can be reversed by letting the operator know) or download the banking App. I appreciate this may be inconvenient for you if you are abroad, however it needs to be you who activates the card as opposed to your son on your behalf. 




Unfortunately there is no system here for reverse charge calls. Would they call me back if I asked? 

We wouldn't be able to arrange a call-back for you via this channel I'm afraid @Royc, although if you download the banking App you can activate the card on there and this won't cost you to do so :-)
