Collect up to 5000 Tesco Clubcard points in our new trial

Employee

This year we’re back with a fresh idea – we’re ready to trial something new in the Community.

Helpful members could collect up to 5000 Clubcard points each month

From today to 31 May 2020 we’ll be rewarding our most helpful members with Tesco Clubcard points. We want to try this out as a way of saying thanks to members who help others by sharing useful tips, advice and knowledge. There’ll be a variety of ways for members to collect up to 5000 Clubcard points each month.

What can you do to get a reward?

Our Community Managers will be on the look-out for members who deserve a little thank you from us.

  • We’ll be giving between 50–500 Clubcard points if you earn certain badges.
  • There’ll be 100–1000 Clubcard points for creating new ‘accepted solutions’. When a member posts a new question, the ‘accepted solution’ is the best answer chosen by our Community Managers from the responses given.
  • And we’ll have a monthly spot prize for Most Valuable Poster (MVP), with an award of up to 2500 Clubcard points.

All rewards will be given at the discretion of the Community Managers.

A few things you need to know

This is a limited trial – we’re running a test to see how things go.

The total number of Clubcard points awarded each month may vary, and our Community Managers are not obliged to give out Clubcard points.

To collect Clubcard points, award winners must have a valid Clubcard number in their own name and just one Your Community profile.

Tesco Bank colleagues can’t receive awards this time. T&Cs apply.

Stay tuned for more updates.

I like the idea of being able to contribute to this 'forum' and help others. My first 'post' is that when registering for this site, I was asked to use a Password 'containing 10 characters'! 10 characters is inconvenient for me as I like to use well-tried and trusted passwords I know and love! Thinking up a new one of 10 characters would be a 'pain'. So I tried one which I use which is 18 characters and it worked fine! So, why do you say it has to be 'containing 10 characters'. This clearly implies that it has to be 10; not less, not more! In fact it CAN be more.

Hope this helps someone! It took me ages to Register! (Also, the Feedback button on the right-hand site gave me this message:

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.)

I've also just got this message : 'Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied."

But there is no indication how I can 'review the message' and then submit it.

I get the impression that whoever designed your web-site has never tested it!

I hope I receive a lot of Clubcard Points just as a thank-you for all this information I'm sending you!

Best wishes!

Wow @musicman2000 ! A whole heap of rubbishness happened to you there at once. Really sorry to hear that. On the first point re Password, I can fix that by improving the wording. For the other 2 I've not heard those happening before. Where were you (not physically! but what page?) when you clicked the Feedback button? I'll check into the invalid HTML message. Leave those with me. Sorry for this start! This may well be one of the best contributions we get this month, and if so, we will look to throw something your way. Registration shouldn't take more than 1min, filling in a username and password and email address, apologies again it didn't work out that way.

Also @musicman2000, please don't reuse passwords that you also use on other sites.  Get a password manager (e.g. Lastpass) and use it to manage your password.  The problem with reusing passwords is that hackers may crack some other site and gain access to your password.  If they do, they will try to log into (literally) thousands of other sites using those details.  If you reuse your password, eventually you'll find someone stealing your money or your identity...  I use Lastpass and I have ~500 passwords in it.  I don't know any of my passwords, on any site, and I don't need to.  It takes a bit of getting used to (and trusting!) but it's so worth it.

Hi new on here and found the registration process ok.

It's what I do next to get involved that is confusing me ...

Not sure what I am doing to be honest 🙈😁

OK guys, I had a really bad experience depositing money in my local (main) branch the other day and felt I had to make a complaint. Despite ringing ahead and being told there was someone 'bank trained' at customer services, when I arrived they were not confident to deal with the deposit as they needed a 'bank trained' manager to 'over-see' it. There was in fact no 'bank-trained' manager on duty which left me wandering around the store feeling a bit vulnerable as I had more much more cash in my pocket than I felt comfortable with. There were also customers at the customer services till buying items while this was going on, which made it lack the discreetness you would get at a bank (where people aren't waiting to buy tobacco etc behind you). All in all it wasn't a good experience. The next evening I rang ahead and was told that there were bank-trained staff on, but this time I not only has the two staff, but another member watching along with a member of the public. All credit to Tesco, they responded brilliantly to my complaint and I intend to pass on the £35 compensation I was given to charity, "thank you" to Tesco Bank. But, I think I may have a solution to this problem. The major stores that you can deposit money into seem to have Foreign Exchange sales cubicles which look a bit like like a banking point in a real bank. They are equipped with a glass barrier, a microphone and an under the glass transfer 'thingy'. As they are only for Foreign Exchange, there are no people behind you buying tobacco, flowers or sandwiches so they could make for a more discreet and professional banking experience. I realise that there are probably some minor problems around making this work, such as the times this desk is open and trained staff etc, but even with shorter depositing opportunities (say 9-5) I feel a customer could deposit up to £2000 (the limit) without it feeling as if there was an earthquake taking place and a gigantic panic occurring. Sadly, although my on-line experience with Tesco Bank has been fantastic, depositing instore has been an embarrassing pain. I'm sure I have seen a solution?

Hi @WeeMum50, you can use this community to ask questions about your account or you can help others if they ask a question and you know the answer!

Your Community Expert

I'm really sorry to hear about this @Wavey1. I'm glad to hear that you managed to get your complaint resolved and it's very generous of you to give this to charity!

I'll pass on your comments about having a specific banking section within the stores. This could help alleviate customer's stress and anxiety when it comes to this!

Having been booked from Birmingham airport to take a flight to Tenerife, which had we been on it would have been turned back, I was very pleased to get some good news when taking my Euros back to Tesco to exchange for £p. Due to the emergency no fee was levied so I received exactly the same amount back as I had paid. Well done Tesco!

I HAVE BEEN INVESTING IN ONLINE SAVING ACCOUNTS.  THESE CARRY A BONUS INTEREST RATE FOR ONE YEAR.  AT THE END OF THIS PERIOD THE INTEREST RATE REDUCES BUT WHEREAS OTHER BANKS EMAIL CUSTOMERS IN ADVANCE TO WARN OF THIS, I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF THIS HAPPENING FROM TESCO AND HENCE LOST INTEREST.

WHEN IT DID COME TO MY ATTENTION, I OPENED ANOTHER ONLINE ACCOUNT, WITH ANOTHER BONUS FOR ONE YEAR AND WANTED TO TRANSFER ALL THE BALANCE TO THE NEW ACCOUNT AND CLOSE THE OLD ACCOUNT.  HOWEVER ONLINE YOU CAN ONLY TRANSFER A SPECIFICALLY NOMINATED AMOUNT.  WHAT I CANNOT APPEAR TO DO IS CLOSE THE OLD ACCOUNT AND RECEIVE UPDATED INTEREST TO THE DATE OF CLOSURE, SO THAT I CAN TRANSFER THE WHOLE BALANCE IN ONE GO.

Hello everyone.  Just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to you for the way you are trying to deal with things.  Know it is a struggle for you right now with scared people just emptying the shelves.

I know there are special spots for the elderly and NHS staff which is fantastic but can you also consider for someone like me.  My husband is 78 and I am only just over 60 which means I have had to self isolate for him - it can be difficult to get a booking slot (I know I don't know what I expect you to be able to do so difficult) - but thanks again to all your staff who are working hard to fill shelves, deal with scared customers and trying to help out - you are all amazing!

What a good idea! Getting help from others who are similarly affected is great. Well done Tesco, although this is a trial I hope it becomes a permanent feature.

I wonder if it might be considered for other forum members to provide (or at least vote for) points. I'm sure there are many situations where someone is helped by a forum post without actually taking part in the discussion. Perhaps an additional checkbox for each thread to allow someone to vote for "useful post"?

I certainly agree with the above suggestion and hereby start the vote for useful post as above  cet/tes

Re tonyburton's post, I have not experienced his difficulties. I also use Internet Saver accounts and received notification by post that the bonus period was ending soon, even though I was paperless on my accounts. I set up a new account prior to the previous bonus period ending and before interest rates had started to fall. I was able to transfer money between these accounts online without any problem or limits. What is not available is to close accounts online. You have to do this by phoning Tesco. I get round this by moving the balance between accounts when the old bonus period ends which leaves a few pence of outstanding interest when the old account is closed.

I hope that this is helpful.

Logging in now is a nightmare. It would not except my password. I changed it. Retyped the password it old me the passwords didn't natch when I knew it was correct. I tried new passwords it would not accept any 10 or more letter/number combination. It took me 12 attempts to finally  get onto your site. A real nightmare why a 10 or more combination is beyond me. Especially when it keeps asking you to change the password. A no brainer in this day and age.

I received a new state of the art credit card. Your telling me the Clubcard number is the same, mine isn't. Good job I checked, i hope i do not loose all my points from my previous clubcard number and the new clubcard number you have for some unknown given to me or changed it to on the back of my new card. How can you check a statement when all it keeps asking me to login all the time. Checking statements when this firstly cannot be actioned. How do you expect to look at your details, profile, statements or anything else that may be new on the website. The old website was a lot easier to work on and follow. Also much easier to login and follow. This is a nightmare. Sends you daft and i'm very patient while trying to work things out. J Bailey

I've been giving this idea about awarding points some further thought in recent days, and would like to add the following suggestion.

Whilst providing spendable points is a great idea, it doesn't really add value for the TescoBank community at large, because for an unknown person to become acquainted they'd have to access the forums - and in a typical workplace that might not be allowed due to active firewall configuration. It also raises questions about how to provide general visibility to the world at large who might not be familiar with TescoBank, and with no inclination to find out more - even if a spam message got into their eyes it's doubtful they would be looking to get a new credit card.

That means lost opportunity for TescoBank to gain more customers.

So instead of just rewarding customers with just points, how's about the forum admins giving out a gold pen which could be awarded to the person who made the most valuable contribution? Those gold pens could be scripted with a short message advertising TescoBank, and in my work days I'd have loved to carry it around and then bore the pants off anyone who wondered what it was about.

Getting points, great idea, but provides no external benefit for non-forum users. Gold pen, increase in general visibility regardless of whether viewer is a current TescoBank customer.

Please be aware that if you register as a community member with a 10-digit password, this does NOT change the password on your bank login (although your username stays the same)! I've just been locked out of my credit card account as I input my 10-digit password instead of the original 7-digit one!

An update on a new credit card i've been will replace my old credit card. With it not working i woould like a reply whether to stick to  my old card so i have no problems and no disappointment shopping. Hopefully you can sort out my new credit card, and clubcard problem out very soon. Luckily my older card still had good dates on to use for now and future purchases. Will my clubcard vouchers etc come with both statements with my old one so i can use them. Or do i have to wait for my new one to be looked at. Before i can do anything, and using my vouchers in future and when they arrive in either my old account or my new account that i cannot at present use. I await to here from you. Thank you JBAILEY6550
