btw, for anyone with MS Money (can't believe that MS "sunsetted" this!). Banktree Finance is a good alternative and you can import all of your MS Money data into it.

I agree. For me, this is also a deal breaker in using the Tesco credit card. Frankly, removing a feature like this from the website with no advance notice or warning is incredibly poor customer service from a card provider which I have been using constantly for 15 years.
In the meantime, I have found this spreadsheet which works for now.
http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com...td4680333.html
Download transactions from Tesco as csv
Copy into new tab on XLSM2QIF, delete all columns except date merchant and amount
Manually change any payments in to negative
Menu Excel Addins / XLSM2QIF / Export to QIF
Select transactions range for input data
Account type - credit card
Invert Amounts set
Columns in order Date Amount Payee
And export
Good luck! -

@DaveCollier thanks for this but i seem to be having problems getting the csv download to work - are you having the same issue?
- - - Updated - - -
ive tried it without the bookmark and it still doesnt work. -
14-05-21, 14:50DaveCollier
@kerrysheehan42 It worked for me! In more detail, in the credit card download as a csv file the last 90 days transactions (which is the only option I'm offered).
Opened that file in Excel and deleted all columns except for Date / Amount / Payee. Also deleted the single header row, and any data rows that I aleady have in MS Money. Then copied this block of data into a new tab in XLSM2QIF, and processed as in my previous post.
Good luck! -

@kerrysheehan42 it should still be downloading. Can you check your recent downloads folder or launch Excel and check recent documents? Let me know how you get on.

I can not express enough how disappointed I am with the removal of the QIF format. I have been very loyal to Tesco's and encouraged others to switch to Tesco Bank but it was extremely user friendly and worked with my finance programs.
Managing my finances is important and the changes have made this extremely difficult to keep on top of things.
From what I have read here, it looks like the customers opinion is not important, and as such (like others I think), the only option is to now look for another credit card that supports the management of your money with the use of OFX /QIF formats. -

I just wanted to add my support to this thread.
Having successfully downloaded a QIF file last week, I was gutted to see the legacy option had been removed! Only providing a proprietary CSV/TSV format is a PITA and requires us to faff around and process those files before they are usable in any finance program.
As others have pointed out, it looks like our only option is to switch to an alternative card - pretty disappointing. -
15-05-21, 11:12rpu1
I am very disappointed indeed that Tesco Bank has decided to remove support for the OFX format - with no notice! I have been an exclusive user of Tesco Mastercard for 14 years - and you can imaging the total amount I have spent over that time (and because I use MS Money to manage my account - I know the precise amount, which goes well over 6 figures!). I will have to go another credit card provider if Tesco Bank cannot support OFX - sorry Tesco, not good.
-

Having read through all of the comments on this thread, it looks like the official line from Tesco is to not reinstate any industry standard output formats ... so, that's helpful, great customer experience there ...
Does anyone have recommendations for an alternative card with good export support? -
16-05-21, 05:51tony001968
@JoeC iast a ailable qif or ofx file i downloaded was april 2021. You should give the it leader who forgot to check page useage before removing, a stern talking too. Its the older generation that use money apps and we're ths low risk repayers with money to spend.

No prior notification that this function was being removed. Great communication.
Guess I'll have to look to an alternative credit card provider. -
16-05-21, 09:50rmh56
After Tesco pretty much abandoned the points with purchases and regular boost promotions, I switched my main card to an Amex Platinum Cash Back card.
You pay a membership fee but get real cash back (at the end of each year). QIF download and good security notifications. Not all retailers accept it (I have my Tesco card as fallback) but Paypal does. -

I have joined this community today to complain about the removal of the manage account and ofx download to ms money. I last used this on the 6 May. Extremely disappointed in the lack of prior engagement and failure to scope customer requirements. I am reconsidering by Credit Card and main Grocery provider.

Hi @k5t0wnly, I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment surrounding this. I've added your comments to our customer feedback.

I would like to add my support for bringing back the qif format for downloading transactions. CSV files are a real pain to deal with in a lot of software.

@growe I'll feed this back to the team, and they'll review all the comments we've received on this thread. Thanks for passing this on.

Along with many others I am extremely disappointed at Tesco's retrograde step of removing the file formats of OFX/QIF. What was your reason for doing so? It surely was NOT for the benefit of your customers who had been using this facility for many years perhaps unaware to your boffins? It was doubly compounded by doing it without any prior notification, which clearly indicates no concern for your customers.
Please have this facility reinstated ASAP. -
17-05-21, 13:43electricphil
I have used the QIF for down loading transactions into Money dance or MS Money for a long time. Why has Tesco removed this facility? It would seem Tesco are no longer interested in customer service.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has provided feedback above. We recently made changes to our online platform that has resulted in being no longer able to download transaction information in all previously allowed formats. However, I want to let you all know that over the coming months we will be reviewing the formats available and would ask you to keep an eye on the Community Page for updates around this.

Let me add my voice to those who are complaining. I am bitterly disappointed and feel very angry that two features which are essential to the way I manage our family finances have been removed WITHOUT NOTICE and without consultation this month. This is enough of an issue for me to look at changing credit card provider, having spent over £800,000 with Tesco Mastercard over the past 20 years.
These removed features are:
1. QIF format transaction download - no, TSV and CSV are NOT adequate alternatives
2. Download of a transaction set corresponding to a monthly statement
While it may be possible to use tools to convert CSV to QIF - I have not even started to investigate that depressing option - it is NOT possible to fix the second issue without time-consuming messing around.
I used to be very happy with the facilities Tesco Mastercard provided to help its customers manage their finances. I am now so unhappy I will seek to change credit card provider. the points are much less of an incentive than they used to be. -

Hi Ross
What is really disappointing is that there is now no way of now easily downloading Current transactions only and the transactions for a particular period. 90 days is useless to me and just makes more work trying to filter out the old transactions. This change has been implemented in a way without any consultation or thought for the customers. Your current download does not even show -ve numbers for credits! Tesco's will be the first to complain at its customers when they get into difficulties not reconciling their accounts, there is now NO way of actually agreeing your statements. Where has the customer service gone, what was so GOOD before has just been turned off, I work in the IT industry please so do not tell me it is no longer available, this is a cost saving exercise! -
18-05-21, 18:27tony001968
What! in the same way that I kept an eye out for you removing this feature. I would like the service request ID and the resolution indicating that this has been considered and the outcome. Until then Tesco credit card should be on notice that Im looking for alternative suppliers.
Tesco is supposed to pride itself on customer focus and making it easier to make ends meet. This has severely dented my view of the credit card group, thank goodness the grocery team are still holding up their end. -

Thank you for your tool. It works perfectly and saved me a lot of time.

And if you need to know how to use it.
Download the ZIP file. Extract to a folder. Mine was in E:\Downloads\TCCQIF-Main
Then open a CMD prompt, then type in the drive you saved it to. Mine was E:
E: (press return)
Then type in the command to change directory
CD E:\Downloads\TCCQIF-Main (press return)
then type in the exe name
tccqif.exe
After the tccqif.exe drag your downloaded CSV file onto the CMD prompt window and it will put the full file path in for you.
Press return and it'll make a QIF file where your CSV was. -
18-05-21, 20:01theron
You should be able to just drag and drop the .csv/.tsv onto the .exe and the .qif version will appear.

I used to use the function in manage account to print individual transaction which I could then use to claim back payments I had made for the company.Have been informed that it was a management decision. A very bad decision

I appreciate you're the messenger for this issue, but waiting months on the off chance that this feature might be resurrected doesn't work for me (compounded by it just disappearing with no warning!) - so, I'm voting with my feet and have found another credit card supplier.
Hopefully this might give you some ammunition to get the feature accelerated with the dev team and will help others, however I have a horrible suspicion that it was assessed during your update and us users of the transaction downloads are considered collateral damage!! -
19-05-21, 12:23HAZZY1966
@theron, mee too :(, took me a while to try and figure this out. I ended up creating a PS script, rather than paying for a tool or using on line service.
Even the ability to select date range for only transactions from last statement has gone. I am hoping at least that can be re-instated as an "improvement". -
19-05-21, 16:13yorkie42
Totally agree with all the other customers who are having problems. The .tsv or .csv file is no good for me and the OFX option should be reinstated.
-
19-05-21, 16:37BobCl
Without qif or ofx download I will stop using my Tesco credit card.
.csv and .tsv are useless formats. -
20-05-21, 08:04PaulW
I’m really disappointed that Tesco have stopped allowing qif file downloads. Since this means that I will now have to enter data manually on Microsoft Money this can only mean that I will use my other credit card (which still permits the even more convenient ofx download) in preference to my Tesco card. Like others who have protested against this I have been a customer for many years and am sad that you don’t seem to value your long term customers.
-
20-05-21, 10:39dhunter838
I would like to add my name to the numerous customers who are very disappointed by this "improvement". Like many of those commenting above, I have been using this facility to manage my finances for decades. It is no good “reviewing the formats available over the coming months” – I will be looking for an alternative card provider immediately.
As repeatedly said by others in this thread, it is galling that the facility has been removed without notification or the opportunity to comment beforehand: this is not how to treat loyal customers. I am not prepared to waste my time by processing csv files into qif format, and to only have the option to download 90 days is clearly nonsense on an account which is processed every 30 days.
In summary: another very unhappy customer who will be moving elsewhere. -
20-05-21, 12:19Maltesebudgie
It is unfortunate that Tesco seem to have ignored their customers in deciding to stop QIF files. In addition you have to download the last 90 transactions whereas previously it was possible to just download transactions since the last statement.
This is a backward step for Tesco and I hope they will realise the problems this has created for their customers, we might only be requesting a small change but "Every Little Helps!" -
20-05-21, 16:00PWUK
This facility is required to keep electronic records in your preferred software package (SAGE, Quickbooks, Quicken, Money, MYOB etc) for HMRC (which requires you to keep financial records for 6 years) purposes and for electronic record transfer to my accountant. The facility was always there until last week and used to appear when you selected "manage your account" where it dropped into the old Tesco system. Tesco have now removed Manage your account but have failed to provide the QIF/OFX option under the Download button thereby stopping customers from providing financial information to HMRC. I have complained to Tesco but have had no response so I am forced to escalate a formal complaint to FCA.

Having used a tesco credit card for many years, the decision to remove the download in OFX is really disapointing.

I agree with all below. I use qif format for downloading all my financial transactions.
It would have been nice to have some warning from Tesco that this was no longer going to be available.
Will now look to use my other card which still lets me download in the format I require. -
21-05-21, 16:47MrsATFox
I to need OFX or QIF statement download to import into my Money Software. TSV and CSV to my mind is an ancient 1980s crude file format. Yes it is a basic format but most modern programs use QIF/OFX.
Tesco's system used to be able to output OFX so why has the system been downgraded and removed a modern capability?
Tesco, please reinstate the Statement output function to include OFX/QIF and also allow us to specify a date range.
While I am here I do not like the modern softly coloured approach which makes it more difficult to look at the detail. The old format I found much crisper and clear.
