Hi all,Myself and my partner use a tesco credit card, we were sent a letter advising our limit would be increased on 12th August, after reading around it seemed we could do this early. We rang up card services and 'what seemed to be' an in experienced girl said she would have to do another request. This baffled me but we agreed, this failed and she said she didn't know if it would affect the pre-confirmed new limit which was frustrating. Can anyone confirm if this will happen still? We have a wedding to pay for and need to know our finances. Regards,Nathan & Zoe

Hi Teekay,
Thanks for your post and congratulations on your engagement.
The offer will still be applied to your account on the 12th August as confirmed in your letter. If you called prior to that date, we would go through normal process of requesting an increase. No matter the outcome, this will not impact any offers in the process of being applied to your account.

Hi I have the exact same issue. Letter telling me it would increase from 12th August, but no increase as of yet. I actually called Tesco Bank about this earlier today and was told that the increases go through at Midnight (which to me means the letter should have said it would be effective from 13th August, not 12th!) I will have to wait and see if that's true tomorrow morning. Regards LJ

Hi all again, Might be worht ringing them on this one, my fiance rang and they advised that they can withdraw it at anytime if your credit file changes, albeit hers has not (other then them telling her to do another request) beause of this she has raised a formal complaint in regards to the issue as it is unacceptable. If you get the same response i would advise you to do the same. Regards,Nathan & Zoe

Hi again I'm really hoping we get a good response about this from the bank. Just from this posting board alone this seems to have affected a lot of people, and it seems unlikely that they've all had bad credit between the time they had the letter and today. Also I would hope that if they HAD changed their mind for some reason, you'd be notified via letter or email or even a phone call. Regards LJ

I've just noticed that the Online Banking page is showing this: Online Banking will be unavailable due to planned maintenance.Due to essential maintenance, Online Banking and tescobank.com will be unavailable from midnight until the morning of Thursday 13th August. We're sorry for any inconvenience. As of about ten minutes ago. Could be a coincidence or could be that there's an issue with the system not updating limits (for everyone) and this is part of the fix? LJ

Good spot! Maybe it was just a generic answer given out because they had no clue what was going on.

Hi, I also had a letter 0n the 9th July saying that an increase would be happening on the 12th August, this however has not been the case, i rang at 12:45pm and i was told it should be increased today at some point. not that it wasnt going to happen!!so confusing now as still nothing!! Also i see a thread stating that things can change for them to pull out of this increase but letter was only sent 4 weeks ago nothing has changed for me!! And why if this is the case have i not been informed? MT wrote:

Nothing has changed for me either so its strange the offers been withdrawn with no correspondence to confirm that?

12-08-15, 17:36JonesRe: Auto credit limit increase
Personally I'm just going to see how the account looks tomorrow. Around 600 people have now read this thread, and I doubt it's just for the fun of it. That would suggest hundreds are affected by the issue, and I find it unlikely that they have all had the offer withdrawn with no kind of contact to advise them. That, coupled with the message saying the internet banking website is shutting down overnight, to me says "system glitch". I may be wrong, but I'm just trying to look at it logically.

Hi everyone,
If the credit limit has not increased for you then it means we’re no longer able to increase your credit limit. Since we first offered you this, we've received additional information, which means that you’re no longer eligible for this increase. I’m sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. We do continually review customer eligibility to ensure we are acting as a responsible lender
You will receive a letter with this detail.
If you’d like to find out more about why you’re no longer eligible, you can request a copy of your credit report by contacting one of our Credit Reference Agencies – Experian or Call Credit. You can visitwww.experian.co.uk or www.callcredit.co.uk
The planned web and App maintenance is not related to this.
Thanks,

Standard reply i also received today when complaining throught their Facebook page.

Seems like they are trying to cover up a glitch in my opinion. Absolutely pathetic. My circumstance have not changed since i received the letter in July.
I wonder if anyone has actually received their promised credit increase??
Plenty of people saying they haven't had it, would be nice to hear from anyone who has.
This situation has certainly left my in a diffcult position, thanks for that TESCO BANK. -
12-08-15, 22:12SilverSteRe: Auto credit limit increase
Just wanted to add myself to the list of people affected by this. I received a letter a month or so ago telling me I was being given an auto limit increase on 12th August but this hasn't happened.
Came across this thread earlier so wanted to add myself to the seemingly growing list of unhappy customers.
It feels to me like they either had a glitch which caused a lot of letters to go out promising people limit increases for today by mistake and they're now covering it up or there's some other problem meaning they can't give people the promised increases.
The fact this thread is so popular and everyone with problems was promised an increase on this particular date seems fishy to me. Especially as there's no other similar threads to this previously as far as I could see.
Very unhappy customer - if they genuinely have just reconsidered the increase due to a change in circumstances I would have expected some communication before the date the increase was promised for not sometime after. Very poor. -
12-08-15, 22:48mjRe: Auto credit limit increase
Agreed. There is no disclaimer on the letter i received and no small print saying the offer can be withdrawn.
If the agreement as stated in the letter is not fulfilled then i will have no option but to report it to the financial obudsman. I dont often get involved with these things but i feel so strongly about this and Tesco Bank have certainly put me in a difficult position. I am utterly disgusted no communication was received prior to the agreed date. -

This situation has certainly left my in a diffcult position, thanks for that TESCO BANK.Hi MJ, yes i have to seen this and have not recieved an increase. Therefore presume i am not recieving it. As a responsible lender surley they should not send out letters that state you will recieve an increase but nowhere on the letter does it state that you may not recieve it, i was relying on this or at least a small part of stated increase to pay my car insurance and also to buy my son new school uniform for next school year, i have now also been left in a difficult frinancial position. -

13-08-15, 06:12JonesRe: Auto credit limit increase
As others have said, I smell something fishy here. I can'tt believe that it's standard practice to just cancel the increase at the eleventh hour with no notification whatsoever. That, plus look at the number of people who have been affected by this. Have they all had a change in credit circumstances in the last month?? Genuinely? It seems very unlikely.
-
13-08-15, 06:47MrsCRe: Auto credit limit increase
I too have been affected. This is not the way a responsible bank operates. Imagine if this had been RBS or Barclays? Would be all over the news by now.
By promising something and not delivering you are making things very difficult for people. People will be relying on that increase and will have made changes to allow for it - especially in the school holidays when a little extra flexibility in the finances is important.
I too will be discussing this with the financial services ombudsman as there is clearly an error in the process that have been used. -

Nope!!!
-
13-08-15, 09:11BrianxRe: Auto credit limit increase
I can imagine that the number actually viewing this topic on this forum is going to be a very small percentage of people affected. It's not that they have gone back on their decision that is the problem but the fact that they have let everyone think that it is going ahead. Everyone would feel better if they held their hands up and admitted they goofed.

13-08-15, 09:39mjRe: Auto credit limit increase
Obviously this is a Tesco Bank forum which many people may not find, so i have opened it up on a much larger forum to see what the response will be.

I thought that automaticly increasing credits limits was no longer permitted due to some people having escalating balances that they could no longer afford to pay!

Is anyone else getting private messages from tesco bank staff asking for the account holders name and DOB so they can file a compaint for you?

13-08-15, 15:24mjRe: Auto credit limit increase
yes been getting numerous of them over the last 24 hours. Not willing to answer any of my questions though, just requesting information in order to file a complaint
-
13-08-15, 18:21AlissRe: Auto credit limit increase
That sounds a bit fishy, I think you are right to withhold your details until you get an answer - actually why do they need to make the complaint on your behalf??
-
13-08-15, 20:37MrsCRe: Auto credit limit increase
I've given mine, they probably want to find how many of these are genuine and if they don't investigate nothing will change

15-08-15, 12:05notafooltescoRe: Auto credit limit increase
I also received a letter about an auto increase. Received another letter today stating since they sent the letter there had been changes to my credit file. Total lies TESCO BANK I AM NOT A FOOL YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM ME.

18-08-15, 16:13mjRe: Auto credit limit increase
For information, as you will know my Auto Limit was rejected, but i complained and dealt with a lovely lady called Joanne, who apologised and agreed with the fact there was no disclaimer and said she would try and sort something with a manual limit with the team directly.
I am please to say i have just been granted the extra £1500 i requested to get me out the trouble caused by this letter. I basically told the truth in that i had promised payments on the back of the letter. Just thought i would update you with my position Good luck all MJ -
